LAPTOP

A laptop is a secondary computer source for the classroom. Once connected to the AV system with the auxiliary HDMI or USB-C cables, the Atlona's auto-switch will automatically share the laptop's audio and video signal with the classroom projector and speaker. If it does not, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure that the laptop is powered on.
  2. There is an auxiliary HDMI and USB-C cable at the instructor's podium/desk. Plug the appropriate cable into your laptop.
  3. Make sure that the laptop's desktop is duplicated (PC) / Mirrored (Mac).
    • For PC: Press the "Windows" and "P" keys simultaneously, then select "Duplicate" from the menu. The PC's desktop will be duplicated.
    • For Mac: Press the "Command" and "F1" keys simultaneously. The Mac's desktop will be mirrored.
  4. Make sure that the Atlona auto-switch is turned on. If the display button is lit red, the unit is off. Press the display button to turn it on, the display button will be lit blue.
  5. Make sure that the Sony projector is on the correct input. Point the white Sony remote at the projector and press the Input button until Input B is selected.

Once the auxiliary HDMI or USB-C cable(s) are disconnected from the laptop, the desktop computer will automatically share it's audio and video signal with the classroom projector and speaker.

iPad (macOS)

Like a laptop, an iPad is a secondary computer source for the classroom. Once connected to the AV system with the auxiliary USB-C cable, the Atlona's auto-switch will automatically share the laptop's audio and video signal with the classroom projector and speaker. If it does not, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure that the iPad is powered on.
  2. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the iPad screen while in landscape mode to reveal the Control Center. Ensure that the Stage Manager button is toggled on.
  3. There is an auxiliary USB-C cable at the instructor's podium/desk. Plug the USB-C cable into your iPad.
  4. A pop-up banner will appear at the top of the iPad screen, indicating that the external display has been automatically enabled with Stage Manger.
    • To "Mirror" the iPad image on the projector, navigate to the iPad's Display Settings and enable "Mirror Display".
  5. Make sure that the Atlona auto-switch is turned on. If the display button is lit red, the unit is off. Press the display button to turn it on, the display button will be lit blue.
  6. Make sure that the Sony projector is on the correct input. Point the white Sony remote at the projector and press the Input button until Input B is selected.

** Please note that the above steps are for iPads with the M1 and M2 chip set. **

TOGGLING BETWEEN DESKTOP COMPUTER AND LAPTOP / iPad

The desktop computer is the default computer source for the classroom. However, the auto-switch will automatically send the audio-video signal from the most recent connected device. If that device is disconnected, the auto-switch will revert to the last connected device / next available source.

If there is a need to manually toggle between the desktop computer and the laptop, press the HDMI OUT button until the desired source is selected.
