Tags: video, Blackboard, Ultra, Medial, MEDIALecture, recording, embed, faculty, staff, instructor
Summary
Medial’s Blackboard integration has been retired, so Medial videos must now be added to Blackboard Ultra manually using embed codes. This guide walks you through:
-
Recording a video using MEDIALecture Web
-
Confirming the video is available in Medial
-
Embedding the video into a Blackboard Ultra Document (HTML)
Important: Before copying your course for a new term, update/replace videos in your source course first so you don’t have to fix them again in every copied section.
Part 1: Record a Video Using MEDIALecture Web
Step 1 — Launch MEDIALecture Web
-
Log into Medial: https://medial.ccri.edu/
-
Click the Record button at the top of the screen.

-
If your browser asks to access your camera and microphone, select Allow
-
You may also get another security pop-up alerting you to configure system settings so your browser can use the microphone and camera.

Step 2 — Choose What You Want to Record (Video / Screen / Both)
When MEDIALecture Web opens, choose one of the recording layouts:
-
Video: records your camera
-
Screen: records your screen only
-
Both: records screen + camera

Step 3 — Set Title, Description, and Recording Quality

Step 4 — If Recording Your Screen, Choose Your Sharing Option
If you select Screen or Both, your browser will prompt you to choose what to share:

A browser tab
-
A window
-
Your entire screen

Step 5 — Record, Pause/Resume, and Finish
-
Click Record to begin.
-
Use Pause / Resume as needed.
-
You can change layout during the recording (Video/Screen/Both).
-
When finished, click Finish to upload your recording into Medial automatically (when internet is stable).

If Your Internet Drops During Recording
MEDIALecture Web will attempt to recover and resume within an admin-defined time limit. If the connection does not return in time, you can still complete the recording and save a local file.

Part 3: Embed a Medial Video in Blackboard Ultra (Manual Embed)
Step 1 — Find the Video in Medial and Copy the Embed Code
-
In Medial, open your video.
-
Click Share.
-
If prompted, enable Public Access.
-
Choose Embed, pick a size (example: Responisve) then copy the embed code.

Step 2 — Add the Video to Blackboard Ultra Using a Document (HTML)
-
In your Ultra course content area, click the + where you want the video.
-
Choose Create → Document.
-
Title the Document (example: Medial Video: Week 2 Lecture).
-
Select HTML in the Document editor and paste the Medial embed code.
-
Click anywhere outside the HTML editor so the system registers the change (this part matters).
-
Click Save.
[Screenshot placeholder: Ultra + → Create → Document → HTML → paste → click away → Save]
if necessary, remove the Old/Broken Medial Building Block Item
After confirming the embedded video works, delete the old Medial link/item so students don’t click the broken one.

Please also refer to this MediaLecture guide for more detailed descriptions of the steps.
If you run into issues (embed doesn’t save, video doesn’t display, or behaves differently on/off campus), contact the IT Help Desk and include: the course name/ID, the Medial video title (or video ID), your browser, and a screenshot of what you’re seeing.
