Connecting a MAC Laptop to Display to a Projector

In this article we'll be showing you the steps on how to connect your MAC laptop to projector in classrooms.

Description:  The user wants to display a Mac laptop screen on the projector.

How-to Steps:

  • Locate an adapter that connects between VGA and a compatible port on the laptop. 
    • NOTE: If you don’t have an adapter, you might be able to borrow one from Classroom Support.
  • Locate the unplugged VGA cable marked "LAPTOP" on top of the podium or desk and plug it into the adapter. 
  • Plug the adapter into the appropriate port on the laptop.
  • Turn on the projector.
  • On the KVM or Extron box, select number 2.
  • If the laptop doesn't display from the projector: 
    • In the upper left corner on the laptop, click the Apple Menu. 
    • Click on System Preferences.
    • Click on Displays.
    • In the Displays window, click the Detect Displays button.
      • NOTE: If that doesn't work, select the Arrangement tab,
      • Check the Mirror Displays box in the lower left corner. 
      • Wait several seconds for it to take effect.
