DVD Won't Play after Inserting it into the Computer

Summary

After inserting a DVD into the computer the DVD won't play? Try starting MPC and opening the disc from there. These steps will show you how to do just that.

Description: A DVD was inserted into the PC, but it won’t play.

How-to Steps:

  • Play the DVD using Media Player Classic (MPC-HC).  On the desktop, locate and double-click “MPC-HC x64”  Once it opens, click on the "File" menu option on the top left of the window, hover the mouse over "Open Disc", then click on the disc that pops up.
    • If MPC-HC has a missing menu bar, press Ctrl+0 until it reappears.
  • If MPC-HC is unresponsive for more than 30 seconds, the PC will require a hard reboot. Hold the PC’s power button until the PC turns off. Wait 15 seconds, then press the power button to start the PC.
