CCRI New Employee IT Onboarding Guide

This article provides step-by-step guidance for setting up IT access for new employees at CCRI.

Initial Account Setup

When your CCRI account is provisioned, you will receive a username and email address.

  • Username Lookup: Use the username lookup tool to find your CCRI username and ID number: 
  • Email Address: CCRI Employee emails end in @ccri.edu. Format: username@ccri.edu
  • Username vs. Email
    • Your username will be used to log in to College computers and Wi-Fi.
    • Your CCRI email address is used for Microsoft 365 and SSO systems.

 

Account Password:

You must set your account password before accessing CCRI systems.

Options for Resetting/Setting Passwords

  1. Microsoft SSPR (Self-Service Password Reset)
  2. CCRI's Reset Forgotten Password Tool
    • Available to all staff and faculty.
    • Uses contact information registered in the RAVE system - collected by HR during onboarding process.

  3. Contact the Help Desk if additional assistance is needed.

 

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):

 

After setting your password, you must secure your account with Multi-Factor Authentication. CCRI uses Microsoft’s built-in authentication system for employee accounts.

You will be prompted to complete this setup the first time you sign in. You can register either:

  • The Microsoft Authenticator App (recommended for better security), or
  • Your personal phone number

Common Access Requests

Some access forms are not required for all employees but are frequently requested:

Access Type Description Request Link
Banner Access              CCRI’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system. Manages and integrates various business processes within an organization. Modules include Finance/Purchasing, Student (SGADISA), Student (Student Affairs), Financial Aid, Payroll, Human Resources, etc. Banner Access Requests

Banner Document Management System (BDMS)

Used to upload/view documents to Banner

For example attaching/viewing acquisitions or student transcripts.

Remote VPN Access     

Provides secure remote connection to network drives and office computers. Manager approval required.

Shared Mailbox       Departmental email accounts used to send/receive messages with students, staff, and external contacts. Shared Email Account Request
Department Shared Drive Some departments have a shared storage space (a network drive) on the campus file servers that can be reached through File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). Request Shared Dept. Drive Access
Webex Calling          Access to a CCRI phone extension, voicemail and call queues.  Add, change, or remove phone extension Request

 

Setting up a Device

 

Connect to the Wi-Fi

  • Use the CCRI Community Wi-Fi with your CCRI username and password.

  • Webex Messaging: Available immediately and can be installed without admin credentials.
  • Webex Calling: Requires a separate request.
