Getting Started with Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator is a secure and easy-to-use app that helps protect your account by requiring a second form of verification when signing in. This article provides step-by-step instructions for setting up and using Microsoft Authenticator for multi-factor authentication (MFA), ensuring secure access to your CCRI accounts and services.

How to Sign In
- On the Sign in screen, enter your full CCRI email address, then click Next.
- Student email addresses are formatted username@my.ccri.edu
- Staff and Faculty email addresses are formatted username@ccri.edu

- Enter your CCRI account password, then click Sign in.
PASSWORDS HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGED!

If you are a new student with CCRI, proceed to Step 3
If you are a current student with MFA registered, proceed to Step 9
- Any new students or students not registered with MFA will be asked for additional information. Click on the blue Next button.

- You will be taken to a page that's titled, "Keep your account secure".
Click on "I want to set up a different method." to register a phone number.
- Choose Phone.
This will take you to the page to enter your phone number.

- Enter your cell phone number.
NOTE: DO NOT USE a home phone, parent's phone, or work phone number for multi-factor authentication as it needs to be done for each new sign in to your MyCCRI account. If you do not have a cell phone, please contact the IT Help Desk at 825-1112.
- Choose to "Receive a Code" via text or "Call Me" to verify the phone number and click Next.

- Microsoft will send a six digit code to your phone number. Enter the code and click Next.
- You will get a message saying that your verification was complete. Click Next.

- You will get a message saying "Success!" showing your phone number as your default sign in.
Click on the blue Done button, this will take you back to the log in page to complete MFA. 
- On the log in page you will be asked to "Verify your Identity" by sending you a code through text message or call.
If you have the Microsoft Microsoft Authenticator app you will be asked to enter a code in the app.
- Enter the code you were sent.

- And just like that you are back in your CCRI account!
