Projecting Desktop Computer Audio/ Laptop Audio in the Classroom (KVM Switch)

DESKTOP COMPUTER

The desktop computer is the default computer source for the classroom. When the 1st source button, labeled #1, on the front-face of the unit, has been selected, the KVM switch will share the desktop computer's audio signal with the classroom speakers. If sound is not heard from the classroom speaker, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure that the desktop computer is powered on and that you are signed in.
  2. For PC:
    • Click on the speaker icon located on the taskbar next to the clock.
    • From the "Select playback device" menu, select "SONY PJ (Intel(R) Display Audio)
    • Make sure that the volume is not muted and is set at a minimum of 50%. Adjust volume as needed.
  3. For Mac:
    •  Click on the “menu bar” or “control center” tool at the top right side of your screen in the upper tool bar next to the date.
    • From the “menu bar” or “control center”, hover the curser over the “Sound” volume bar and click on the bottom of the dropdown menu. From there, a small gray arrow icon will appear on the “Sound” bar, and click on it to make the audio “Output” menu appear.
    • From the "Output" menu, select "SONY PJ”
    • Make sure that the volume is not muted and is set at a minimum of 50%. Adjust volume as needed.
    • Due to Apple product configuration, the projector display will need to be on when attempting to share audio through the classroom speakers from the Mac.

LAPTOP / iPAD (macOS)

A laptop is a secondary computer source for the classroom, the KVM Switchers do not provide audio signal switching, so laptop audio cannot be supported in classrooms, unless accommodations are made with Media Services.
