EAC Visual Data Impacted By Blackboard Institutional Hierarchy Update 

๐Ÿ“† Overview

In preparation for the upcoming Institutional Hierarchy (IH) update in Blackboard, faculty and assessment leads who use EAC Visual Data must take action to preserve important reporting and alignment work. This change will permanently remove the old hierarchy structure and only retain courses from the current and future academic terms.

โš ๏ธ What Is Changing

  • The legacy Institutional Hierarchy will be removed.

  • Only courses mapped to the current and future terms will be retained in the new hierarchy.

  • Courses not mapped to the updated hierarchy will become invisible to EAC.

๐Ÿค” How This Affects EAC Users

If you use EAC Visual Data to:

  • Align course outcomes in practice shells

  • Run outcome-based assessment reports

  • Prepare for accreditation reviews

  • Demonstrate mappings for program-level or department-level outcomes

You must take action before the update is applied to retain access to this information.

โœ… What You Need to Do Before the Update

  1. ๐Ÿ“„ Export all EAC reports tied to:

    • Practice or sandbox shells

    • Courses from past academic terms

    • Outcome alignment or training scenarios

  2. ๐Ÿ“ Save reports as PDF or Excel files in a shared department folder or institutional archive.

  3. ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ Document your goal alignments if you are using EAC to demonstrate mapping (screenshots or notes are recommended).

  4. ๐Ÿšจ Notify faculty in your department who use old shells for outcome alignment or practice to complete their work and save any necessary materials.

โŒ After the Update

  • Old courses will not be visible in EAC.

  • Goal-to-course alignments done in shells outside the new hierarchy will no longer appear.

  • There is no way to restore EAC visibility for unmapped courses once the hierarchy is removed.
