Software Center FortiClient Installation, Setup, and Connection Guide (Windows)

Description: This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing, setting up, and connecting to FortiClient on a Windows computer to access CCRI systems.

FortiClient Installation Steps:

  1. Open Software Center:
    • To begin the installation process, open the Software Center by using the Windows search function located in the bottom left corner of your screen.

  2. Select FortiClient Application:
    • In the Software Center, locate and select the blue FortiClient application from the list of available apps.

    Note: Your software center may have different apps listed compared to the screenshot.

  3. Install FortiClient:
    • Click the green "Install" button to initiate the installation process. The installation may take up to 5-10 minutes to complete. If you had a previous version of FortiClient already installed on the device, then you may need to restart your computer during the installation of the updated version.

  4. Installation Complete:
    • When the installation is complete, the "Install" button will change to an "Uninstall" button. You may also receive a system notification like the one below:

  5. Restart Your Device:
    • Fully restart your Windows device to ensure that FortiClient is properly configured.

FortiClient Setup Steps:

  1. Open FortiClient Console:

    • In the bottom right corner of your screen, click the system tray arrow to reveal hidden icons.

    • Click on the blue FortiClient logo, then select "Open FortiClient Console."

  2. Accept and Acknowledge:
    • Acknowledge the message on the initial screen and click "I accept" to proceed with the setup.

  3. SAML Login:
    • "CCRI VPN" should autofill into the field. Click the "SAML Login" button.

  4. Sign In:
    • Enter your CCRI username and password. If you are set up in the DUO system, authenticate with DUO.

  5. Connected to CCRI VPN:
    • After successful sign-in, the VPN should be connected and ready to be used for accessing CCRI systems.

Connecting and Disconnecting from FortiClient (After Installation):

  1. Access FortiClient Options:
    • In the bottom right corner of your screen, click the system tray arrow to reveal hidden icons.

    • Click on the blue FortiClient logo, and from the menu, select either "Connect to CCRI VPN" to connect or "Disconnect CCRI VPN" to disconnect.

  2. FortiClient Notifications:
    • FortiClient will notify you of each action, such as connecting or disconnecting.
