How do I enable pop-up windows in my browser for Blackboard to work correctly?

Description: If you are experiencing problems with Blackboard, configure your browser settings to allow pop-up windows.

Enabling Pop-up Windows

  • Internet Explorer
    • Click the tools button, and then click "Internet Options".
    • Click the "Privacy" tab, deselect "Turn on Popup Blocker" option.
    • Click the "OK" button.
    • Close this window and restart the browser.
  • Firefox
    • Click the menu button Fx57Menu and choose Options.
    • Select the Privacy & Security panel.
      • Under the Permissions section, uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows to disable the pop-up blocker altogether.
      • Click on Exceptions, which opens a dialog box with a list of sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.
        • Allow: Click this to add a website to the exceptions list.
        • Remove Site: Click this to remove a website from the exceptions list.
        • Remove All Sites: Click this to remove all of the websites in the exceptions list.
  • Chrome
    • Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
    • Select "Settings".
    • Click "Show advanced settings".
    • in the "Privacy" section, click the "Content settings" button.
    • In the "Pop-ups" section, select "Allow all sites to show pop-ups." Click "Done" button.
    • Close the Settings tab and "refresh (F5)" the page
  • Safari
    • Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Security.
    • Make sure these checkboxes are selected: Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, and Enable JavaScript.
    • Make sure this checkbox is not selected: “Block pop-up windows.”
