Microsoft Loop provides powerful tools for creating and managing collaborative workspaces, known as "loops," within the Microsoft 365 environment. These workspaces enable teams, faculty, staff, and students to collaborate effectively, organize projects, and streamline communication. This guide will walk you through the steps of creating, using, and maximizing the potential of workspaces in Microsoft Loop. 

 

What are Workspaces in Microsoft Loop?

Workspaces in Microsoft Loop, referred to as "loops," are virtual collaborative spaces where users can create, share, and manage content in real-time. Loops serve as centralized hubs for projects, courses, committees, and any collaborative endeavor. They integrate seamlessly with other Microsoft 365 applications like Teams, OneNote, and Outlook, providing a unified platform for teamwork and communication. 

 

Creating a Workspace (Loop) 

  1. Accessing Microsoft Loop: Open your CCRI email via the Web Version of Outlook:  
    Staff and Faculty: https://outlook.com/ccri.edu  
    Students: https://outlook.com/my.ccri.edu  
     
  2. Navigate to Microsoft Loop: Click on the app launcher (the grid icon) in the top-left corner and select "Loop" from the list of apps. If it does not show here, click “More apps” to see all apps available to you. 
     
  3. ​​​Create a New Loop:
    • Click on "New" or "Create" to start a new loop. 
    • Choose a name for your loop that reflects its purpose (e.g., "Project X Team", "Faculty Curriculum Development", "Student Council Planning"). 
    • Optionally, add a description to provide context for loop members. 
       
  4. Invite Members: 
    • Specify who can access the loop by adding members using their email addresses or selecting from your contacts. 
    • Assign roles such as Owners (who can manage settings and invite others) and Members (who have access to content within the loop). 
       
  5. Set Permissions (Optional): 
    • Customize permissions to control what members can view, edit, and manage within the loop. 
    • Define privacy settings to make the loop public, private (accessible by invitation only), or restricted to specific members. 
       
  6. Customize Your Loop: 
    • Tailor your loop with templates, tabs, and channels to organize content effectively. 
    • Utilize tabs for shared documents, tasks, agendas, notes, or any other relevant content categories. 

 

Using Workspaces (Loops) Effectively 

  • Collaborate in Real-Time: 
    • Create and edit documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and notes collaboratively within the loop. 
    • Use threaded discussions and comments to provide feedback, ask questions, and brainstorm ideas.
