Using Medial and MediaLecture in Ultra

Medial: Record with MEDIALecture Web and Embed Videos in Blackboard Ultra

Tags: video, Blackboard, Ultra, Medial, MEDIALecture, recording, embed, faculty, staff, instructor

Summary

Medial’s Blackboard integration has been retired, so Medial videos must now be added to Blackboard Ultra manually using embed codes. This guide walks you through:

  1. Recording a video using MEDIALecture Web

  2. Confirming the video is available in Medial

  3. Embedding the video into a Blackboard Ultra Document (HTML)

Important: Before copying your course for a new term, update/replace videos in your source course first so you don’t have to fix them again in every copied section.

Part 1: Record a Video Using MEDIALecture Web

Step 1 — Launch MEDIALecture Web

  1. Log into Medial: https://medial.ccri.edu/

  2. Click the Record button at the top of the screen.

Note: On Apple devices (Mac, iPhone, or iPad), you may see a security pop-up asking you to allow access to your microphone and camera. If this appears, go to Settings (or System Settings on Mac) > Privacy & Security > Microphone and Camera, then enable access for your browser (such as Safari, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox).

If necessary, remove the Old/Broken Medial Building Block Item

After confirming the embedded video works, delete the old Medial link/item so students don’t click the broken one.

Need Help?

Please also refer to this MediaLecture guide for more detailed descriptions of the steps.

If you run into issues (embed doesn’t save, video doesn’t display, or behaves differently on/off campus), contact the IT Help Desk and include: the course name/ID, the Medial video title (or video ID), your browser, and a screenshot of what you’re seeing.
